Overview
Previously referred to as PTLLS qualification, Level 3 Award in Education and Training is a standard qualification for beginners who want to pursue a teaching career in the desired fields. This course is accredited by UK Ofqual and prepares you to teach within the Further Education and Higher Education Sectors.
What makes this Level 3 course ideal is to enrol in the course, you don’t need any previous experience or qualification. Therefore, no matter what you wish to teach, be it music or mathematics, this Level 3 AET will prepare you by teaching the right skills and expertise in the respective field. For your convenience and ease, we deliver the course online via our Virtual Learning Environment.
Scope:
Equipped with Level 3 AET teacher training qualification, you can teach in a wide range of fields which may include the following:

Duration and Delivery

Assessment and Verification Process
Assessment activities of this course will be thoroughly assessed – internally and externally – by our qualified assessors and awarding organisation. Other than that, during the course, your performance will also be graded through micro-teaching session and written assignments. Once you are enrolled, complete details of the theoretical and practical requirements will be provided by the tutor assigned to you.
Progression After PTLLS/AET Course
Learners may proceed to the following qualifications after Level 3 AET, which will assist in boosting their teaching profile:

Entry Requirement
Before enrolling on Level 3 AET course, you must meet the mentioned requirements:
• You must be at least 19 years old,
• You must possess adequate literacy and mathematic skills,
• and not have any criminal records that might prevent you from becoming a teacher. -
Practical Requirement
The practical requirements for Level 3 AET entail the following:
• You must participate in at least 60 minutes of micro-teaching,
• If you are currently teaching you can use your teaching practice to record a session of 1 hour.
•In case you don’t have learners to deliver the 1 hour microteach, we will provide you the option to deliver a 15-minute micro-teaching session and observe the microteach of your peers for the remaining 45 minutes.

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed via three written assignments along with the planning and delivery of a microteaching session – the topic can be of your choice.

What is Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS)?
The Award in Education and Training (AET) was previously known as Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) under the old QCF framework. Apart from the names, both are essentially the same courses.
What is micro-teaching session?
Micro-teaching is a 1-hour session that illustrates teaching practice for the Level 3 Award in Education and Training.
Do I need a workplace or a real class to deliver my lesson?
No, the Level 3 Award allows simulation of the lesson. You can deliver your lesson at the workplace/classroom or at home, but you must have access to real learners.
How do I provide evidence of teaching?
Record the session on your smartphone/tablet PC or other camera device, upload it to YouTube or Vimeo and then send us a link.
Will I have to sit an exam?
No, you will be assessed by the coursework alone.

What is Petals training course?
