The Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement is a starting point for people who want to assess learners on accredited courses. Before you start assessing in the FE and HE sectors, most training centres would require you to have this assessor qualification. There are no prior skills or qualifications required to start this level 3 course. This NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) assessor course will assist you regardless of your specialised area whether you are an expert in security training or first aid. The course is UK OfQual accredited and is delivered completely online.
This course will enable you to assess learners in any classroom or simulated setting. Unit 2 is practical and expects that you assess two learners studying for a primarily theoretical course. If you do not have access to learners to meet the practical requirements of the course, you can avail our work-placement service or opt for Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment
Most of the tasks would be attempted through essay-style written accounts and reflections of your own assessment practices. Some of the tasks would require submission of relevant work such as audio or video recordings as evidence that you assessed learners in a classroom or training environment.

This unit helps to assess learners using different sources of evidence. It covers the areas of assessment planning; judging both performance and providing feedback and making assessment decisions. The assessment skills to be demonstrated are through the assessment of natural performance, simulation, questioning, candidate and peer reports, projects and assignments and assessment of prior achievement and learning.

I have worked in education for 34 years, in various guises. I managed a busy nursery for 12 years before branching out into Assessment and Quality Assurance, more than 20 years ago. My practice has developed alongside the ever-evolving training and apprenticeship sector, and I have worked in many different settings, including colleges, private training agencies and a foster care agency. I also work part time as a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant for a local charity that supports higher level education for young people with Special Educational and/or behavioural needs and as a tutor for a bespoke programme for one-to-one support. I really enjoy supporting learners of varying abilities and experience to achieve their best and to become qualified in their chosen field.
